Joining a company like Logica could be demanding for anyone, especially if it's your first job in life but we take the time and effort to ensure that you are the right person for us and we are the right company for you; and that means making sure that you know just what to expect - whether that means exceptional training, constant support, high-profile projects or a busy social life.

Comments from graduates confirm all these things; but one thing in particular has been mentioned as important to emphasise. Project culture is an intrinsic part of life at Logica. The project based nature of our work allows you the opportunity to work in many different areas as your career progresses and allows for a very varied career at Logica.

We work across the whole spectrum of the IT business life cycle from strategic consultancy through system design, development, implementation and integration, to training and applications management. As a new graduate you can typically expect to work in the areas of systems analysis, programming and support for your first few projects but nothing is set in stone.

Flexibility is the key to a successful career with Logica - both in the type of work you do and where you work. At any time around 50% of our staff are working on client sites away from their base office; this could be nationally or internationally.

On site, on side
For many people, this is a whole new experience - and it can happen fairly quickly after you arrive. In some cases, new graduates have been assigned to a client site within weeks, even days of joining. We will throw you in at the deep end but don’t worry, mentors are on hand and you will be provided with support.

The reason behind site-working seems obvious. It enables the team to get under the skin of the client business, their functions, IT requirements and working practices. Because you are there seeing the company in operation, you can help the client identify and resolve issues as they arise. You become an extension of the business, but with the external insight and industry expertise to add real value. The secret to site-working is to establish a close relationship with the client. We've seen some graduates go on to client sites early in their career as the sole Logica person. Or you could be part of a big team. Either way, you'll be representing the company in the front-line of operations. The face of Logica.

You may not stay client-facing during every project; but you will experience life on the client side. The challenge seems daunting at first but soon becomes fascinating. There's plenty of support from experienced colleagues, and the exposure is invaluable.

In house, integral
We also work 'in house' where you could work on software integration and development projects through our Solutions division or support our clients through our Services division.

Either way the possibility for you to gain an immense amount of knowledge across all of our business areas will be there for the taking...
