Work and Resource Management

26 January 2012

Logica announces Work & Resource Management (WRM), a new automated scheduling solution targeted at onshore, high volume drilling operations. WRM is designed to improve the scheduling, routing and management of labor, material and equipment for oil and gas shale and tight oil and gas developments. These are typically high volume drilling and completion campaigns.  While drilling and fracturing improvements have resulted in increased productivity in the field, operators are still challenged with coordination of all the activities and resources in high volume campaigns, from permitting to sites services to production turnover.  Most operators use spreadsheets to plan and schedule activities surrounding well operations, including coordination of third parties such as oil field services companies and material suppliers (e.g. water, proppant, cement, tubulars) as well as labor certification and environmental compliance.  WRM optimizes these activities and improves record-keeping for audit purposes.

Logica’s WRM solution has been adapted from Logica’s proven Asset and Resource Management (ARM) solution using a subset of the ARM suite, modified for oil & gas applications. ARM has been successfully deployed in over 60 utilities as well as industries such as energy services and telecom that face the same challenges - managing service work for construction, as well as equipment and facilities.

WRM provides a number of benefits to operators:

  • Optimized scheduling  continuously  aligned with objectives such as cost and uptime management and equipment utilization
  • Reduced schedule degradation due to unexpected events
  • Management of all aspects of the value chain including the co-ordination of permits, materials, equipment  availability/ certification and field crew availability/ qualification
  • Integration with third party tools to provide wireless dispatch and mobile reporting functions
