Innovative Renewables Management System Delivers Real-Time Control and Visibility
RMS, Logica’s Renewables Management System, is a scalable platform that supports the business needs of operators with a large portfolio of renewable energy. It offers real-time remote control and management of wind and other renewable resources.
The RMS solution operates as a fundamental building block that scales to meet increased levels of wind energy production on the grid. Its vendor agnostic interface allows for easy integration with production forecasting, energy trading, metering, maintenance, and workforce management systems.
RMS consists of three primary components:
- A Wind Power Plant (WPP) component that connects with existing SCADA systems to receive real-time operational data from turbine generators, met towers, and substations.
- A Dispatch Center that manages and controls operation of WPPs in real time across multiple geographies.
- Logica’s Performance Management module that evaluates operations based on predefined indicators and generates custom reports.
These integrated features provide improved control and visibility of turbine performance across multiple wind farms as well as 24/7 remote management. RMS measures and computes downtime using a vendor-independent platform. This feature allows benchmarking of both manufacturers and sites. And, all plant data is reported using standard corporate reporting tools, so operators can easily define performance targets across their complete portfolio.
Just one year after Horizon Wind Energy deployed the RMS in North America, it won the Excellence in Renewable Energy Award for Innovation in Technology. Editors from the Renewable Energy World network honored RMS specifically for its ability to minimize downtime, enhance grid reliability, and optimize output.
